An award ceremony with wabi-sabi flair.
The client brief asked that we focus on the beautiful architecture of the location, an old church currently used as photography studio. The design also had to incorporate a simple origami bird, the token of change that was taking place within Media24 magazines itself. We worked with a neutral palette and used other Japanese influences such as wabi-sabi, ikebana and furoshiki as inspiration for the table settings. The flowers and foliage were foraged, bought and dried weeks ahead of the event by us. JOANITA.CO worked closely with the art director on the project to make sure that the design of the programmes, menus and the presentation that went on a screen were in line with the overall feel of the decor. Lastly we assisted with the choice of lighting which changed throughout the evening and lit up the origami installation that took centre stage.
